Ben Herr is thirty-one years old and resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with his daughter. Ben has three passions in life, being a loving father, writing, and social justice. He has professionally written for several magazines.
In 2005 Ben Herr spent the summer volunteering at the Omega Institute in upstate New York. When he returned to Atlanta at the end of the summer, he knew he wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, he enrolled in the Atlanta School of Massage and became a certified CMT. While running a successful practice, he experienced a career ending shoulder injury.
Ben’s desire to help people was still as strong as ever, and soon after his injury, he was introduced to RESULTS, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating poverty, both nationally, and abroad. Ben Herr spent several years volunteering with RESULTS. His milestones include, being group leader of the local chapter, meeting with members of congress over thirty times, and co-hosting large events for Tuberculosis awareness, for which he was awarded several certificates of appreciation from Dr. Kenneth G. Castro, director of the CDC’s department of Tuberculosis Elimination.
Since he was seventeen, Ben Herr, spent most of his free time developing a book series, Alynia Sky, which shares its name with his six year old daughter. Ka’lanna, the realm in which the series is set, has several tribes, each with their own culture and religion. The series even has its own constellation system.
Ben’s goal for his series is to create a positive role-model for children, one who instills values, such as, courage, strength, wisdom, and integrity.
Last December, Ben Herr released the first installment, Alynia Sky, The Beginning and the End. He has plans to release the next two installments, the companion audiobooks, and a soundtrack, all by summer of 2015.
